Obituary

Theodore H. Kiefer, 87, of Belvidere, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Northwoods Care Center, Belvidere. Born April 30, 1929 in Forest Park, IL, son of Theodore N. and Ella (Vierow) Kiefer. He married Lorraine Zimmer on December 30, 1950 in Belvidere. Ted served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. He was employed by American Family Insurance as an agent for 40 years. Ted was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Belvidere. He was a member of the Moose Club, Shriners, VFW, American Legion, Rotary and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Ted’s first priority was his family. Ted loved his country, enjoyed golf, reading, trap shooting and telling jokes.

Ted is loved and missed by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine; children, Mary (Dennis) Friday, Patricia (Christopher Mills) Luedke, Michael (Mary) Kiefer, and Cynthia Oldenburg; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kiefer; grandchildren, Matthew Kiefer, Tyler (Katie Jo) Luedke, Elizabeth Kiefer, Lauren Friday, Caroline (Bryan) Bell, Emily (Kevin) Luedke-Barrett; great-grandchildren, Mia and Jennings; sister, Eileen (Dr.James) Tyson; brother, Roy (Eileen) Kiefer; sister-in-law, Lois Kiefer-Fernstadt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Theodore Kiefer, and brother, Donald Kiefer.

A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 1255 W. Jackson St, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. David Love officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the church. To light a candle or share a condolence, please visit www.AndersonFCS.com.
