One of our telephone conversations where I first called you Guttersnype and you called me Harry Potter's sister. It was this conversation that we both opened up and shared a lot of our pain. It was in that moment I knew you were a special kind of man and I felt honoured that you felt you could confide in me. We talked many times, some over the phone, but mostly on Facebook. And though I never actually met you I still felt a strong connection and you told me you did too. I wish you could have come over, like we talked about. I will always love and miss you. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Sorry for the loss

Melissa Furland posted on 3/2/16

My heart aches for soo many family and friends of Shawn who I know feel the loss of such a wonderful and special spirit. Shawn always had a way to light up a room and lend an ear to those who needed it. On several occasions he spoke with me and brought a smile to my face when I was feeling down. Although we will all surely miss him greatly, let us all remember the thing Shawn would want the most for us all, what he gave...happiness. In time I pray the many fun memories and happiness that Shawn gave us will be felt again, even in his physical absence, and we can all again smile at the thought of the very social person we were blessed to know.

Dear John, Jerrie, Sherry, and Loren- Larry and I extend our deepest sympathies for your loss. We were so sorry to hear of Shawn's passing. I texted our son Scott in AK with the news and he was very sorry, as well. They were born seven days apart and we all share many memories from our days at Open Bible Church. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
