Belvidere, IL

Murray V. Quincer, 87, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Tuesday evening, February 9, 2016 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born June 24, 1928 in Rockford, IL, son of Harold M. and Mary (Murray) Quincer. He attended the Avery One Room School House, until moving onto high school. Murray graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1946. He proudly served the United States Army from 1950-1952, and was stationed at Fort Leonardwood, Camp Carson and Camp Crowder. Murray married the love of his life, Joy Haegg on April 20, 1952 in Belvidere, IL. In the early 1950’s, He enjoyed flying his plane out of Franklin Field in Cherry Valley. He owned several businesses in Belvidere, which included, City Fuel and Supply, Town Pump Tavern, Belvidere Kawasaki. Murray also was employed by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department as a transfer officer, retiring in 2000. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion #77, Freeport Consistory, The Cherry Valley Lodge, and Tebala Shrine. Murray was an original member of the Prairie Riders Snowmobile Club, and past president of IL Association of Snowmobilers, where he was involved with youth safety education programs.  He was an avid snowmobiler since the early 1970’s and enjoyed going to the UP of Michigan and northern Wisconsin, where the snow was plentiful. Murray loved fishing, NASCAR, and watching the Chicago Bears.

Murray leaves behind, his loving wife, Joy of Belvidere; daughter, Susan (Tom) Hughes of Janesville, WI, son, Tom (Angela) Quincer of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Keeth (Sharon) Furan of Janesville, WI, Kari Furan of Madison, WI; great-granddaughter, Stephany Furan of Janesville, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Muriel Morley-Jahn officiating. Memorial visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
