Obituary

 

LeRoy Albert “Lee” Zierke, Jr., 76, of Belvidere, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 2, 2017. Born December 27, 1940 in Belvidere, IL, son of LeRoy Albert Zierke, Sr., and Mabel (Lundberg) Zierke. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1958. Lee retired in 2004, as Plant Superintendent of Pactiv, formerly known as Champion Packaging after 45 years of service. He spent many summers at BYB as groundskeeper, coach, and manager of little league teams; Lee also served as past board president. Lee was an avid golfer, and a member of Timber Pointe and Swanhills golf courses.

Survived by his daughter, Nancy (Mark) Pollock of Garden Prairie, sons, Michael (Debra) Zierke of Rockford, Tim (Jeanne) Zierke of Belvidere; also survived by grandchildren, Jessica (Shaun) McCarren, Jocelyn Leonard, Brandon (Sonja) Zierke, Andrew and Samantha Pollock. Also 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Pastor Allen Zierke and Donald Zierke.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Patrick Anderson, Funeral Celebrant officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Hello family of Lee....Just want to tell you how sorry I am to hear of his passing...I have probably been cutting his hair for about 30 years....I am truly going to miss him....We had great conversation and he always made me laugh....One thing I always knew for sure was how much he loved his family....
