Lawrence “Larry” H. Istad, 73, of Poplar Grove, died in his home Monday, July 15, 2013. Born October 30, 1939 in Rockford; son of Henry and Doris (Peterson) Istad. Married Sara Meyer on July 15, 1961 in Rockford. Served in the US Air Force. Worked as a tool and die maker for J.L. Clark in Rockford and was a farmer. Former member of the Boone County Saddle Club and International Buckskin Association. He raised horses and pigs, enjoyed golfing, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his loving wife Sara; daughters Karin (Fabian) Seyller of Belvidere, Stacy Morris of Poplar Grove, Lynn (Danny) Anderson of Belvidere; grandchildren Ryan (Kim) Kramer, Drew (Taryn Shaver) Seyller, Hollyn and Derek Seyller, Geoff, Jacey, and Kylie Morris, Garrett, Hannah, and Hayley Anderson; great-granddaughter Dakota Kramer and a great-grandson on the way; sister Marcia (Ron) Vogler; brother Lonnie Istad; a niece and several nephews. Predeceased by parents and brother Lenny Istad.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.

Service Information

Funeral service 10 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere with Rev. Allan Buss, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Shattuck Grove Cemetery. Visitation 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the funeral home.
