Jerry F. Arand, 83, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Sunday morning, December 6, 2015 at Swedish American Hospital after a short illness. Jerry was born November 28, 1932 in Galena, IL, son of Ernest and Ethel (Bartel) Arand. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Jerry married Shirley Dodson on October 25, 1954 in Orlando, FL. He was employed by Arnold’s Engineering in Marengo, IL. Jerry attended First Baptist Church in Belvidere. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Jerry was a huge Chicago Bears fan, liked fishing and enjoyed watching local high school sporting events. He liked to tinker around to stay busy.
Jerry is loved and will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Shirley of Belvidere; children, Douglas (Edna) Arand of Chattanooga, TN, Sheryl (Dave) Rickabaugh of Belvidere, Pamela (Dan) Rickabaugh of Belvidere, and Bradley (Janice) Arand of Belvidere; grandchildren, Matthew, Missy, Meagan, Michaela, Jennifer, Tricia, Erin, Erica, and Danielle; step-grandchildren, Kyle and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Brynn, Reaghan, Ava and Max; siblings, Donna Luckow, Jim (Lavonne) Arand, and Nancy (Darryl) Moss; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Harold and brother, John.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1255 W. Jackson St, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Dave Love officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the church. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
