Obituary

Belvidere, IL

Gordon H. “Gordy” Luckow, 78, of Belvidere passed away peacefully Thursday evening, October 8, 2015 in Belvidere after a lengthy illness.  Gordy was born June 26, 1937 in Belvidere the son of Henry K. and Edith E. (Johnson) Luckow.  After graduation from Belvidere High School, Gordy served our country in the US Army.  He married Charlene M. Vincent on June 19, 1960 in Belvidere, IL.  Gordy began his career life as a home builder with Luckow Builders; he then became a realtor and broker, first with his brother in-law, Bob Falkenstein, and then on his own.  He retired from Dickerson-Nieman.  Gordy was a very handy person who could fix just about anything.  Gordy was raised at First United Methodist Church; he enjoyed playing golf as well as building and repairing golf clubs, playing horseshoes, and playing cards with his Concordia buddies.  Gordy was very civic minded, being a charter member of the Cosmopolitan Club; service to Crime Stoppers in the organization’s early years; serving on the Belvidere Board of Realtors and service as a trustee for the Belvidere Township.

Gordy is loved and will be missed by his wife, Charlene; children, Kimberly (Jeff) Nolan of Belvidere, Kathy (David) Huffman of Woodstock; daughter in-law, Christine Luckow of Belvidere; grandchildren, Katie Nolan, Megan (Brian) Voss, Jacob (Laura) Huffman, Jason Huffman, Dustin Luckow, Jordon Luckow, Haley Luckow; siblings, Betty Hogfeldt, Lorraine McKissick, Shirley (Bob) Falkenstein, Bonnie Shattuck, Peggy (Jack) Wolf; sister in-laws, Jo and Donna; many nieces and nephews.  Gordy is predeceased by his parents; son, Kelly; brothers, Lloyd and Kenny and sister, Donna Whalen.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2015 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 800 Bonus Ave., Belvidere, IL.  The funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev.
