Mr. Boyd E. Johnson

Boyd E. Johnson, 88, of Belvidere, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Highview in the Woodlands. He was born May 6, 1924 in Belvidere; the son of Oliver and Nellie (Loveridge) Johnson. Boyd was married to Marilyn Schwebke in Belvidere on December 12, 1946. He was employed as an Electrical Assembler for Barber-Coleman Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Boyd served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; a life member of the V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Belvidere Post #1461; a member of American Legion Boone Post #77 and former member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Belvidere Lodge #295. He enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, woodworking and remodeling projects. He is survived by children, Allen Johnson, Belvidere; Gary Johnson, Freeport, Illinois; Julie (Dan) Halley, Cherry Valley, Illinois; four grandchildren, Robert (Krystle), Kyle, Stacie and Brian; a great-grandchild, Isabella; a sister, Viva Mae Carlson and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marilyn in 2009, and Daughter-in-law, Carol Johnson.

Funeral Services 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue with the Rev. James Crone, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 in the funeral home.

So sad we were unable to be at visitation or services. Mother Nature apparently had other plans for us. Our condolences to you all. I will never forget your father. If someone needed help with a home project or repair, he was always there if called upon. You are all left with great memories.
