Patricia Van Landschoot

Obituary

Patricia Lou Van Landschoot, 75, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, July 24, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 26, 1946, the daughter of Wilmer and Lorraine (Bialas) Baier.

After high school, Pat attended cosmetology school and worked alongside her husband at Sir Richards Family Hair Care for 38 years. Pat and Richard were married on October 10, 1964, and together had two beautiful daughters. Pat found her spiritual home at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and had covered all 50 states, along with various other countries, including going as far as Australia. Pat loved spending time with her grandchildren, as well as doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. One of her favorite pastimes was to take bike rides on the Long Prairie Trail, tracking her mileage each year to make sure she rode more than the previous year.  Pat also maintained an extensive network of friends and was always attending various lunch and dinner groups. She also had an extraordinarily quick wit and wonderful sense of humor and was always the life of the party.

Pat is loved and will be missed deeply by her mom, Lorraine Hetland; her daughters, Monica (Scott) James, Tamara (Darren) Huys; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Mariana) James, Alyssa (Palmer) Madson, Calvin Huys, Calista Huys; and her siblings, Robert (Mary) Baier, Jana (Roland) Crandall, Randall (Nita) Baier, Scott (Tammy) Baier.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Van Landschoot; and her father, Wilmer Baier.

Patricia’s visitation will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1045 Belvidere Rd., Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service will take place in the church sanctuary immediately following. Burial to follow at Scottish Argyle Cemetery, located at 8901 Picken Rd, Caledonia, IL 61011. Memorials in her honor to be given to the family to establish Pat’s wish of a permanent bench in her memory to be built alongside her favorite bike path, “Long Prairie Trail”.

Aunt Pat. My Godmother. One of my MOST favorite people to be around. She was always a constant source of love and acceptance. I’ll miss our , singing to a group of strangers (to me), at the Stockholm Inn. Being on a cruise and all wearing our Jammie’s to the midnight buffet!! Fires and fireball on the back patio. Pheasant and fish dinners! So many wonderful memories. I will miss her dearly. Until we meet again. ❤️

I attended Belvidere High School with Pat. She was so much fun to hang around with. We shared alot of laughter at the class of 1964 girls’ luncheons .Prayers to her entire family.

Our sincere condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother. We met Pat and Richard twice during our trips to the US. An ever-optimistic woman, always with a smile. She will always be a lasting memory for us. Goodbye Pat and God bless you.

Pat was my best friend ever since High School. Oh the friend we had! I became her VERY BEST FRIEND when her Richard, Jim and I went to the Dog Races and I won $780,. I had to take us all to dinner. From then on the joke was that I was Pats very best friend. Pat was a great friend and I will always remember our trip to New York that the two of us took.I will truly miss her.

My sister had a “great” sense of humor. I admired her outlook on life, never wanting controversy and just getting along with everyone. The four wheeler trip memories will forever be a blessing in my life. Her commitment to her Faith and family was truly awesome! We will miss her favorite sayings ” You yard bird” and “Oh My”. Rest in peace “WE LOVE YOU SIS”!

Pat was like a second mom to us kids who grew up on Meteor Ct. She was always so nice. Tammy was my first friend when we moved in. My thoughts and prayers are with Tammy and Monica (and family) during this difficult time.

Pat has always been a bright spot to be around since I’ve known her these last 20 years. Always positive and up beat. Always with a smile on her face. She’s going to be missed. My love to all of her family and friends.
