Ann C. Thomas, 87, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, Sunday morning, September 30, 2018. Ann was born June 2, 1931 in Belvidere the daughter of Wilson “Bo” and Fay (Eis) Cain of Caledonia. She graduated from Belvidere High School in 1949 and married Richard “Dick” Thomas on December 2, 1951.
Ann and Dick farmed on Shaw Rd where she lived, for over 65 years, and raised a family. She was supportive of all thing’s family, including 4-H livestock, Boone County Fair and aviation, which led to the establishment of the now Poplar Grove Airport in 1972. Although not a pilot she never hesitated to fly along with family and friends. Ann loved spending time at the family cabin on Long Lake in northern Wisconsin where she had many friends. Ann was a local election judge for over 40 years and a great historian, you could spend hours listening to her talk about Caledonia, Belvidere and Boone County’s past.
Ann is loved and will be missed by sons, Steve (Tina) Thomas of Poplar Grove and Bill Thomas of Rockford; grandchildren, Blake (Jen) Thomas, Lindsey Thomas of Poplar Grove and Austin (Katie) Thomas of California; sister, Nancy (Bob) Mohns; nieces, Christine Wahner and Charlotte Mohns; nephew, Carl (Cathy) Mohns. Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard and daughter, Linda.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday October 3, 2018 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. Private family burial will be at Belvidere Cemetery. To share a remembrance please visit www.AndersonFCS.com
