A Box of 64

  • I see things differently – I see things as resources
  • I think things differently – I see unlimited possibilities
  • I do things differently  – I generate endless ideas
  • I strive to be creative – I have continual ideas rolling around in my mind
  • I bring my creativity to work – I use my creativity to solve problems
  • I promote creativity in friends – I promote creativity in my family
  • I live to be creative – Creation breathes life into me

Yesterday I was at Target and happened to walk down the aisle with colored pencils and crayons. I stood there looking at all of the choices and my mind instantly went from not thinking about much of anything to thinking of endless possibilities. I grabbed Crayola’s box of 64 colors and put them in my cart. I didn’t have a plan for them, but I knew that I needed to bring them home with me. There’s something about a box of 64 colors that has the ability to transport me back to my childhood. A box of 64 colors is filled with so much possibility and magic.

Why do you suppose that a simple box of crayons can strike such a creative desire in a person?

God has created everyone, including you, with the desire to create. He crafted you in His own image, which means that He has hard-wired into you some of His characteristics. God is the Creator of all things; He is THE CREATOR and he wired you to be creative also.

Haven’t you known, haven’t you heard
that the everlasting God, the Lord,
the Creator of the ends of the earth,
does not grow tired or weary?
His understanding cannot be fathomed.

(Isaiah 40:28)

The definition of a Creator is a person or thing that brings something into existence. People create all kinds of things; however, they always use preexisting materials. The physical elements that they use are not their own creation.  Even their intellect is not truly their own, but God-given intellect.

God had no raw materials to work with.  He is the Creator; He is truly creative all by Himself.

The next time you feel the urge to be creative, tell God thank you for creating you in His image and hard-wiring you with the desire and ability to create.

Just in case you have a Box of 64 here’s a coloring page for you to let your creativeness flow onto.

Shalom
