Obituary

Shirley E. Craig, 79, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday morning, December 2, 2014 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a lingering illness.  Shirley was born October 14, 1935 in Garden Prairie, IL the daughter of Lloyd J. and Ruby (Greenlee) Turner.  She was involved in banking for 35 years retiring from PNC Bank, formerly First of America.  Shirley attended First Presbyterian Church.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Shirley enjoyed cooking, holidays, parades and visiting with her family; especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Shirley is loved and will be missed by her children, Tamara (Joe) Hendricks of Machesney Park, IL, Michael (Jill) Craig of Belvidere, Carol (Kevin) Cregeen of Belvidere; grandchildren, Craig and Chad Klinefelter, Ellisa and Aleksa Craig, Chelsey, Chase and Chance Cregeen; great-granddaughter, Celeste Klinefelter; brother, Jim (Marilyn) Turner of Garden Prairie; sisters, Marlene Smiley of Garden Prairie, Beverly Gibson of Belvidere; several nieces and nephews.  Shirley is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL with Rev. Dr. Robert Kopp, pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Scottish-Argyle Cemetery.  A memorial will be established in Shirley’s name and can be given in care of her family.
