Ronald E. Holmgren, 73, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, Sunday, June 30, 2013 in Maple Crest Care Center after a lingering illness. Ronald was born July 18, 1939 in Rockford, IL the son of John and Sigrid (Lind) Holmgren. He married Nancy J. Rhode on March 17, 1961 in Belvidere, IL. Ronald worked for Camcar Textron for 25 years and was a veteran of the US Army. He was the superintendent of the Rabbit Department at the Boone County Fair and a member of the Winnebago-Forest Rabbit Club. Ronald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Sunday dinner at the Steam Plant.Ronald’s family wishes to acknowledge the loving care given to Ronald by the entire staff of Maple Crest during his stay.Ronald is loved and will be missed by his daughter Rhonda (Daniel) Johnson and Janet (Todd) Fair both of Belvidere; grandchildren Amy, Matt, Mike, Amanda and Wyatt; nieces and nephews. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; wife Nancy; granddaughter Hallie Fair; brothers Gunnard and Thorston; sisters Gunborg Hermanson and Astrid Holmgren.

Memorials can be given in care of the family in Ronald’s name.

Service Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday July 6, 2013 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, Il with Rev. Allan Buss, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
