Obituary

 

Robert “Bob” G. Willis, 80, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, after a long illness. Bob was born August 25, 1935 in Belvidere, IL, son of Clifton L. and Violet R. (Beckner) Willis. He married Barbara Haley on June 4, 1956 in Duluth, MN. Bob was a lifelong farmer, in Boone County who enjoyed raising and showing Angus cattle with his daughters. He was a DeKalb seed corn dealer for over 20 years. Bob was a past member of the Flora Grange and the American Angus Association. Bob enjoyed baseball, football and NASCAR. He had a knack for anything to do with John Deere or the Chicago Bears. Bob played minor league baseball for 2 years for the Chicago White Sox.

Bob is loved and will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Barbara of Belvidere; children, Kathleen Rollins of Belvidere and Teresa (Alan) Nyman of Belvidere; grandchildren, Ashley Rollins, Kyle Rollins, Matthew Nyman; brother, Terry A. (Julie) Willis of Belvidere; nephews, Steven Willis and Christopher Willis. Bob is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008, with Rev. Monty Fox officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M., until the time of service. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
