I was saddened to learn of Merle's passing. I grew up across the street and drew a ton of my character from my life experience on the Smith farm. I still tell my kids about watching Merle fall asleep at the table after breakfast into his oatmeal. As a kid I absolutely felt like the entire Smith family was my second family...so sorry for you all. I was fortunate enough to have known him and you all. Jerry Damron San Luis Obispo, Ca
