Marion Irene (Collier) Anderson, 75, of Poplar Grove, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at home from cancer. She was born August 28, 1937 in Harvard, IL. Daughter of Harry W. and Irene (Saunders) Collier. She married Leland F. “Bud” Anderson on August 10, 1957 in Chemung, IL. They had 56 wonderful years together. Marion was previously employed at Admiral, Mectronics, K-mart, Maplecrest nursing home and Poplar Grove grocery store. She was very actively involved in the Women of the Moose, Prairie, Pomona and Illinois State Grange, past 4-H leader, Evangelical Covenent Church, Awanas and Belvidere North music boosters. She enjoyed traveling, camping, visiting the casino’s and mostly playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Marion is survived by two children, Robin (Karl) Kindberg of Caledonia, IL, Randy (Elyse) Anderson of Bradenton, FL; 4 grandchildren, Kelly, Karrie, and Timothy Kindberg and Brittany Anderson. They were the highlights of her life. She is also survived by 1 sister, Eleanor Swanson of Belvidere, IL, 1 brother, Harold (Mary Lou) Collier, Chemung, IL, 1 half-sister, Marie Bauman of Woodstock, IL, 2 sister-in-laws, Karen Collier of Southaven, Ms and Dorothy Vierck, Harvard, IL and 2 brother-in-laws, Jerry Anderson of Union, IL and Roger Paulson, TN, several special nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Bud, on July 27, 2013, 2 brothers Albert Collier, Bobbie Saunders; 1 sister, Margaret Toombs, 3 brother-in-laws, Jay Toombs, Robert Swanson, and Vince Vierck, 3 sister-in-laws, Emma Jean Anderson, Marlys Paulson Rudsinski, Hilda Saunders, 4 half-brothers, 5 half-sisters and all of their spouses.
Memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date.
Joint funeral services with her husband, Bud, will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 West Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL. Visitation at the funeral home, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, IL. A luncheon will be held at Evangelical Covenant Church, 220 E. Harrison St. Belvidere immediately following the service.
