Leland F. “Bud” Anderson, 78, of Poplar Grove, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. He was born May 31, 1935 in Wagner, South Dakota, son of R.F. and Blanche (Youngbluth) Anderson. They moved to Illinois in 1942. Bud served as SP5 from 1959 to 1964 and served in Korean War. He married Marion Irene Collier on August 10, 1957 in Chemung, IL. They had 56 wonderful years together. Bud was employed as a rural milk hauler, worked at Starline, Autolite, Union Special and Deans. He loved the outdoors so he worked for many farmers either milking cows or grain farming. He worked at Biggins Plumbing and Suhr Plumbing in the Poplar Grove area. Recently, he was found driving a tractor in the spring and fall on the Bullard Farm or weed eating or mowing at the Boone County Fairgrounds. He was a lifetime member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge 295 and American Legion Boone Post 77. He loved to fish, camp, shoot the bull at the local coffee shop and spending time with family and friends. Bud is survived by wife, Marion; two children, Robin (Karl) Kindberg, Caledonia, IL; Randy (Elyse) Anderson, Bradenton, FL; 4 grandchildren, Kelly, Karrie, and Timothy Kindberg and Brittany Anderson. They were the highlights of his life. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Karen Collier, Southhaven, MS; and Dorothy Vierck, Harvard, IL; a brother, Jerry Anderson, Union, IL; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Swanson, Belvidere; 2 brothers-in-law, Harold (Mary Lou) Collier, of Chemung, IL and Roger Paulson, of Tennessee, several special nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Bud was predeceased by parents, 2 sisters, Emma Jean Anderson and Marlys Paulson Rudsinski; a sister-in-law, Margaret Toombs; 5 brothers-in-law, Albert Collier, Robert Swanson, Vince Vierck, Jay Toombs, and Bobbie Saunders. Bud had a heart of gold and wanted to help anyone who needed and wanted nothing in return.
Memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date.
Joint Funeral services with his wife, Marion, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2013 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Av. Belvidere, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, IL. A luncheon will be held at Evangelical Covenant Church, 220 E. Harrison St. Belvidere immediately following the service.
