Obituary

Belvidere, IL

Frederick W. “Fritz” Koch, 99, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Maple Crest Care Center. Fritz was born October 16, 1916 in Belvidere, IL, son of Otto and Minnie (Schult) Koch. He married Winifred I. Thornton on January 29, 1937 in Belvidere, IL. Fritz was self-employed. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Fritz was a former member of the Belvidere Moose Club and the American Legion. He was a true outdoorsman, who loved fishing, trapping and hunting birds. Fritz enjoyed refinishing violins, and playing string instruments He was an avid reader, reading anywhere from 8-13 books a week. Fritz loved dancing and was a collector of antiques. Family meant everything to Fritz, he adored spending time with his family.

Fritz is loved and will be missed by his daughter, Loreen I. Burton of Belvidere; grandchildren, Paula (Greg) Deppe, Kelly Daehler, Patrice (Mike) Bauman; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Clark, and Audrey (Ted) Grenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Winifred, parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and son-in-law, Richard L. Burton.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Allan Buss officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m., until the time of service. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fritz’s name.
