Dear Sally & Joshua, Your dad was a good friend for many years. He had a BIG heart, because he was always giving of himself - to help others - anyway he could. He will be missed by many. BUT I look forward to being his friend again, only this time for eternity! I'm sure Bill & Don are cracking jokes even now. Love & Blessings - Sandy

I only meet Don once when he came to buy my old Lincoln Town car. What an amazing fellow. He talked for over an hour with me and my son. Telling us about Dec 21st, 2012. Thank our God the world did not end then. But what I remember most of all is Don's intense faith and energy. I felt we touched each other’s soul that day. We never meet again but he did call me one day just to say the Lincoln was still going strong. May our God bless you and help you into a new chapter of your life. To quote a line from a Little House on The Prairie episode “ Remember me with smiles and laughter as that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears … then don’t remember me at all! Mary O'Sullivan-Snyder

I met Don about ten years ago through his work with the homeless. His passion for helping people and his amazing warmth and compassion were evident from the moment I met him. He treated everyone with respect, compassion and kindness, and he never treated those who sought his help any different than those providing help, if anything he was harder on those who had resources than those who had nothing. Not only did he step up and help he expected everyone who could, should and would. His big heart will be missed by many.

Don had much energy with love for the underdog. As chaplain at Madden Mental Health Center he made sure that every patient received gifts including socks at Christmas and other holidays under the Holiday Project. Was ordained by the Evangelical Free Baptist Church, ever since he had a deep love for Jesus Christ and the Bible. Always, always said yes to anyone in need. We know he is now dancing in the golden streets of heaven...miss you Don, see you soon...

So sorry for your loss. Don was my neighbor when I was growing up in Berwyn. I knew Don for many years and always wondered if it was him when I would read about all the things he was doing to help people here in Belvidere. I know he's been blessed in heaven for all his kindness to people less fortunate than us.

I'll always remember the many times he would come over and try to explain to Mike what his cars were doing and then tell Mike "Just fix it" - duck tape and wire hangers. Who can forget the toy give away's - "freezing for Jesus". Him and Mike are probably discussing lots of topics again. God Bless you on this journey. His Love never fails.
