Mr. Clarence L. Swanson

Clarence L. Swanson, 80, of Belvidere died Saturday, January 4, 2014 in O.S.F. St, Anthony Medical Center. He was born on April 14, 1933 in Belvidere; the son of Enoch and Elsie (Anderson) Swanson. In 1952, Clarence graduated from Belvidere High School. He honorably served his country during the Korean War. He was employed 10 years as a Milkman for Mueller-Pinehurst Co. He later worked at the First National Bank as an Assistant Vice President for 25 years. He then worked 15 years as a Custodian for Belvidere School District 100 at Kishwaukee School before retiring. Clarence is survived by his 4 children, Larry Swanson, Diane (Brad) Anderson, Brian Swanson and Daniel (Bernice) Swanson; 3 grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Heather Swanson; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Swanson; a many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center for their care and compassion during Clarence’s illness.

Service Information

Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 in Evangelical Covenant Church 200 E. Harrison St. Belvidere with the Rev. Scott Nellis, officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday. Arrangements by Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Av.

I have many happy memories of uncle Clarence at family gatherings as well as out on Prairie Lake in the boat fishing. I will always remember his laugh. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Clarence was a great guy! Not only did he keep the Kishwaukee School building ready for us, he was a friend to both staff and students. I am sorry for your loss.
