Dear Aunt Tess,
Next to Ed Sliwoski, I miss you most! You did not have an easy life, and lost your husband John far earlier than you should have; but you were always a brave, loving, sensible and compassionate woman. I feel so fortunate to have known you; whenever you were at a gathering, I felt peace because I knew I had a friend there. Thank you for standing up for me when a couple times Sliwoski family members were jealous and made up lies about me. You quenched that firmly in no time flat! I will be ever grateful to you for this; it saved me such suffering, and even more future suffering on the whims of that selfish family member.
Well Aunt Tess, I see that you passed away last Christmas Eve. And although I have so many happy Christmas memories of time with you, I think of how beautiful it was that you went home to Jesus at Christmas, and that God blessed you with a peaceful passing, a peaceful exit from this world. I know I will meet you again in heaven, where neither time nor distance will make such a difference. In the meantime, I will be praying for Susan and Gerry this Christmas season without you. You raised such precious daughters, I have lovely memories of them too. I have so missed all the family and friends I left behind in Chicago so many years ago. I paid a steep price. But the years have gone by and it does no good to weep but rather to make peace with our lives and the decisions made during marriage and after.
Love, Jane Sliwoski

My grandmother was a kind and generous woman. She would always look out for other people, and she cooked large amounts of food and soup to share with her neighbors and friends. She was very accepting of new family members and welcomed them into her heart and home. She was more interested in how others she cared about were doing, irregardless of how she was doing or feeling.

My grandmother was a very hearty, hard working woman who was able to develop great relationships with people of all ages whom she worked and interacted with. The ability to earn people’s respect and trust so quickly is a testament to her character and considerate nature.

My Grandma Tess will always be loved and remembered by the fine examples she set and the full life that she lived.
