Paul J. McCoy, 84, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Paul was born November 25, 1931 in Mosheim, Tennessee, son of Newt and Nellie (Story) McCoy. He married the love of his life, Ruth “Rosebud” Collins on July 5, 1952 in Newport, Tennessee. Paul was employed as a truck driver for JCJ Trucking, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 325. Paul enjoyed farming, antique tractors and fishing. He was a huge NASCAR fan and loved going to the Rockford Speedway to cheer on his family. Most of all, he was a great father, and was a family man.
Paul is loved and will be missed by his children, Billy (Pat) McCoy of Belvidere, Shirley Shott of Troy, IL, Nancy (Rick) Vettore of Belvidere; grandchildren, Brett (Cori) McCoy of Belvidere, Michelle (Jeff) Huggins of Troy, IL, Amanda Shott of Troy, IL, Brandon (Erin) Shott of Poplar Grove, Courtney Vettore of Crystal Lake; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Cheyenne McCoy, Angie, Zander, Madison, Tyler and Chase Huggins, Natalie and Hunter Shott; sister, Stella Cook. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and his parents, brother, Tim.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2016 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL with Rev. Eugene Wille officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial in Shattuck’s Grove Cemetery.
