Norvell Stanley Ralston, 96, of Belvidere, IL passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in his home. Norvell was born August 15, 1922 the son of Oren Lloyd Ralston and Rey (Shiflett) Thompson. He married the love of his life, Doris Brady, on December 31, 1949. Norvell proudly served his country with the United States Army during World War II. Norvell received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in Agriculture and worked for United Airlines as a supervisor in the shipping and receiving department. He was passionate about gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and cheering on his Chicago Bulls and Bears.
He is loved and missed by his children, Rebecca (Richard Hrdlicka) Davenport, Wayne H. (Sheila) Ralston; son-in-law, Loren Tollefson, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris; parents, Rey Thompson, Oren Lloyd Ralston; step-father, Dean Thompson; daughter, Carolyn Tollefson; sons, Michael S. Ralston, Daniel J. Ralston; brother, Oren Lloyd Ralston and sister Ann Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008.
