I just learned of Neil’s passing. My sincere condolences to his entire family. Neil and I were good friends in middle school and high school, and we were roommates for a short period in 1980 but slowly lost touch after that. He was a great and loyal friend and well thought of both within our band of high school brothers and throughout the school. His humor, intelligence, honesty and integrity were evident even then. It did not surprise me to read that he continued to be a big sports fan throughout his life – I remember Neil as an enthusiastic athlete. I fondly recall those summers, playing informal baseball games with Neil together with the guys, as well as playing endless games of “500” with Neil at his parents’ house. I remember him as a very powerful hitter who could pretty much always call his shots. We also played one-on one football together and had great football games with the guys, including a couple of memorable games in the fall at Thornton’s sod farm. It also does not surprise me that Neil retained an interest in cars – I recall Neil’s pride in his first car – bought from his father, and how much he enjoyed several el Caminos – including his favorite “Golden Olden”. I recall our canoe trips to Wisconsin, working together as baggers at Eagle Foods, and experiencing country music for the first time – hearing Johnny Cash records at his parents’ house, and countless other memories of youth with Neil. I will miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss. As I have a ton of childhood memories with Neil, one of my most memorable is his passion for those Denver Broncos!! He was always such a great role model to me as a young child and always took time out to play with us kids growing up. As life passed, we lost connection and my adulthood took me all over the place and we didn’t keep in touch like I now wish we would have. He was an amazing man and will greatly be missed. I will forever hold on to the memories. RIP Neil and I am sending prayers to the family for their loss. Love- Trasie
