Matthew Richard Gillett, 29, of Caledonia, IL died peacefully at home, September 5, 2020 in Caledonia. He was born May 30, 1991, in Rockford, IL, son to Michael and Penny (Haithcock) Gillett. He graduated from Belvidere North High School and attended Rock Valley College in Rockford. Matthew worked for Acme Grinding Company as a machinist. He loved gaming, fishing and hunting. He also loved guitar and music. He was a true sweetheart and loved his family dearly. He never left his family gatherings without giving them a kiss goodbye and saying I love you.
Matthew is loved and will be missed by his parents, Michael and Penny; sister, Amanda; grandmother, Darlene Gillett; girlfriend, Kaitlin Stern; special friends, Richard and Joey; aunts, Paula (Mitch Melms) Gillett, Lori (Doug) Williams; and Mellione ( Mike) Kincaid; numerous great aunts, great uncles, and cousins; and many other friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Gordon Gillett; and grandparents, Joe and Ann McCain.
A walk through visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Only 50 people at a time will be allowed in the building during the visitation. Due to state guidelines, masks and social distancing are encouraged. Funeral service and burial will be private. Deacon Olson will officiate. Private burial at Highland Garden of Memories. Memorials in Matthew’s honor can be made out to the family to be established at a later date.
