Iona Mae Sunden, 91, of Beloit, WI, formerly of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, August 11, 2022, in Beloit. She was born May 20, 1931, daughter to Clarence and Mildred (Fonken) Cooper, in Belvidere. Iona graduated high school and married David M. Sunden, October 14, 1949, in Belvidere. She became an Administrative Assistant at Harvard Farms, attended Wesleyan Church in Wisconsin and also was a former member of The Evangelical Mission Covenant Church in Belvidere where she taught Sunday School and sang and directed the church choir. She was an election judge for many years in Coloma, WI, very involved in the community and also was a member of Coloma Quilters. Interests include quilting, counted cross stitch and traveling. She loved her family dearly, often taking family trips to their cottages on Pleasant Lake in Coloma.
She will be missed by her children, Karin (Ray) Baldwin, Sue Kuehn, David (Genia) Sunden, Paul (Rhonda) Sunden and Steve (Lisa) Wood; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Clarence and Mildred Cooper; brother, Darwin and sister in-law, Pauline; sister in-law, Darlene Anderson; and grandparents, Andrew and Esther Fonken.
A visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008.
