Obituary

Ignacio Avilas Acosta, 88, of Poplar Grove, Il passed away Wednesday morning, January 6, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family.  Ignacio was born January 31, 1932 in Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Emeterio and Guadalupe (Aviles) Acosta.  He married Benita Ruiz on December 5, 1952 in Mexico.  Prior to his retirement, Ignacio was a talented bricklayer.  He loved his family and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. 

Ignacio is loved and will be missed by his wife, Benita; children, Anastacio, Rufino, Rojelio, Juana (Arturo), Guadalupe (Rosalio), Ignacio (Jeanne) Gonzalo (Nahoni), Teresa (Ipolito), Fermin (Angie), Silvia (Victor), Francisco (Amelia), Lorena (Jesus); brothers and sisters, Teodomiro, Francisco, Margarita, Jesus, Arturo; Forty-one Grandchildren; Fifty-six Great-Grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Ignacio is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Pedro. The walk-through visitation for Ignacio will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2021 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL 61008 In keeping with state issued recommendations, social distancing and facemask are required.  The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church, Church Street at Caswell St., Belvidere, IL.  Burial in Belvidere Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in care of Ignacio’s family.
