Harold B. “Mac” McLarty, 96, of Belvidere, Il passed away Monday March 15, 2021 at his home. Harold was born March 12, 1925, in Rockford, IL the son of Earl and Bessie (Robinson) McLarty He graduated from Rockford East High School in 1943. He married Beulah M. Robinson on January 20, 1962 in Janesville, WI at Ashbury United Methodist Church. Mac was a farmer and member of the Guilford Hope Grange for 80 years; as well as being a 4-H leader with Guilford Go-Getters. Mac was also a member of the Boone County Farm Bureau and the Harvard Moose. He made his spiritual home at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.

Harold is loved and will be missed by his children; children, Cynthia Enos of Poplar Grove, Keith (Connie McLay) Robinson of AZ, Julie “Kit” (Dale) Dieterman of Belvidere; grandchildren, Jessika Robinson, Amanda (Brent) Grable, Anthony Enos, Jenelle (Clay) Dieterman-Butt, Kayla Dieterman; great-grandchildren, Donny, Christian, Austin, Izaak, Lilly, Brennan and Brady; nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his wife Beulah; son, Curtis Edward Robinson; infant son Rex Earl McLarty; son in-law, King Enos; sisters, Luella Pepper, Frances Green and Alice Peacock.

The visitation for Mac will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 E. Grove Street, Poplar Grove, IL, face mask and social distancing will be observed. Livestreaming of the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at www.AndersonFCS.com. Private family burial at Arlington Memorial Park will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in care of Mac’s family. Uncle Mac’s skill in dancing with Aunt Beulah and the smiles, and the laughter generated with his sportsman like rivalry with me about the bears and packers are among the fondest of memories I can share. As neighbors of Mac & Beulah for over 30 years we are going to miss this sweet couple. The last time we saw Mac he was out in the driveway clearing off some leftover snow. I saw him several times as we left the subdivision and he always had a wave and a smile on his face. It just won’t be the same not seeing him out mowing the lawn each summer. Thinking of his family during this difficult time. May your memories help ease the pain and know many of us will be thinking of you fondly.

Dear Cindy, Julie, Keith and cousins: my heart goes out to each of you with the passing of your dad and granddad. You can see how much he loved Aunt Beulah and all of you. One thing that struck me watching the video is that his sleeves were often times rolled-up because he was working on meaningful projects. Uncle Mac was always positive and kind to me. I won’t hold it against him that he was a Bears fan 🙂
