Hans B. “Pete” Polcher known to his friends as “Cowboy”, 71 of Belvidere, Il passed away Saturday afternoon, April 24, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital from complications related to colon cancer. Pete was born June 27, 1949 in Koblenz, Germany the son of Josef and Elfriede (Pague) Polcher. He graduated from Auburn High School and then served our country in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division. After his service he returned to the Rockford area and married Dorothy “Sue” Davis on March 27, 1976. Pete worked for the City of Belvidere with the sewer department for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the John Hugo Kaiser Post #1461 V.F.W. and the American Legion, Boone Post 77. Pete had three loves in his life. His first love was his wife, Sue; his second love was his grandkids. He enjoyed teaching them how to fix and repair, he enjoyed taking them for rides on his motorcycle and golf cart and cherished the time he spent driving them to various sports practices and events. Pete’s third love was the outdoors and all things connected to the outdoors. He loved to camp, fish and nurse back to health injured and sick animals.
Pete is loved and will be missed by his daughter, Tasha (Andy) Ferguson of Belvidere, IL, son, Peter (Amber) Polcher of Loves Park, IL; grandchildren, Taylor, Aubry (Nikko Madrid), Riley and Jackson; great granddaughter, Scarlett Madrid; brother, Egon Polcher. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sue, grandson, Tyler and sister, Bridget.
The visitation for Pete will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL with a time to remember Pete’s life at 7:00 p.m. Social distancing will be observed. Cremation will follow with private ceremony at Belvidere Cemetery at a later date.
