Obituary
Grace Hulstedt, 100, of Rockford, IL, passed peacefully May 26, 2022. She was a strong and peaceful individual, and was happy to celebrate her 100th birthday with her loved ones, before she sadly fell ill with Covid-19. She was born April 13, 1922, to John and Julia (Peterson) Blomberg in Harvard, IL. Grace was married to Emery Hulstedt January 31, 1942, and was married for a wonderful 31 years before his early passing in 1973. Grace was an extremely independent and hardworking mom and farm wife, and loved to take care of her cows and calves. She is considered the best cook and baker in Illinois by those who knew her, especially for her homemade bread and red velvet cake. She was a wonderful gardener as well, and always had the best kept lawn and flowers. Grace was a kind and caring person, and loved all of her family deeply.
Grace will be loved and missed by her daughters Sandra (Tom) Johnson, Karen (David) Holmertz, and Janice (George) Thompson; grandchildren Scott (Jane), Tammy, Mark (Lori), Jeffrey (Beth), Jayson (Christy), and Jeremy; great-grandchildren Connor, Patrick, Jaden, Branden, Lindsey, Kaleb, Tyler, Julia, Benjamin, Anthony, and Lamont; and great-great-granddaughter Piper.
She is preceded in death by her husband Emery, granddaughter Tammy, and parents John and Julia.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere IL, from 5 to 8 pm. A small visitation will be held the next morning, Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Broadway Covenant Church, 3525 Broadway, Rockford, IL, from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am. The family will be having a private burial. Memorials in Grace’s honor can be given to Broadway Covenant Church or a memorial of your choice.
