Gordon Johnson, 81, of Belvidere passed away at his home on November 22, 2016. The son of Charles and Helen (Kingren) Johnson, he was born on May 22, 1935 in Belvidere. He served our country in the United States Army in the Korean War and was the recipient of the United Nations Service Medal as well as the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW in Belvidere.
Gordon was a retired Iron Worker. He also was a barber and horse trainer and served on the Board of Trustees for the Lawrenceville Cemetery Association since 1962. He was president of the Cemetery Association since 1975.
Spending time outdoors at the Ranch was one of his greatest joys.
He will be missed by his children, Carla (Kelly) Sullivan, Luanne Tripke, Roxanne (Larry) Kiehl, and Michael (Colleen) Hill; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Ronald Johnson; and sister, Margery Paulson.
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 28, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Lawrenceville Cemetery.
