Obituary
Gordon G. “Gordy” Darmon, 64, of Belvidere, Il passed away unexpectedly, Thursday evening, July 7, 2022, in the emergency department of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a sudden illness. Gordy was born December 25, 1957, in Harvard, Il the son of Will Gene and Bertha Marie (Randall) Darmon. Gordy graduated from Belvidere High School in 1975. He married Mary F. Stone on July 11, 1981, in Mundelein, IL He worked for General Mills, however, his true passion was serving the needs of the community as a handyman. He has helped so many area residents with repair needs since 2001. Gordy had many enjoyments in life. He was the proud owner of a 1984 Honda Ascot; he enjoyed 1970’s classic music and good cold beer. Gordy might even be found playing the slots or purchasing a lottery ticket. He truly enjoyed every moment in socializing with his friends and family. He was known to go pistol shooting every now and again, and in the last 20 years or so, he began to appreciate sports, even warming up to the Chicago bears, who could cause much frustration. Gordy also had a thanksgiving ritual or listening to “Alice’s Restaurant” every Thanksgiving Day at noon.
Gordy is loved and will be missed by his wife, Mary; children, Kyle (April), Tyler, Logan (Victoria); grandson Liam, whom he adored; sister, Lucy (Len Dalzell) Gustafson, Brenda Oberg; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Buss, Jacob Moore, Kaleb Gustafson, Katlin Oberg, Ben Stone, Joey Stone, Shawn (Amber) Gade; sister-in-law Beverly Gorenz. Gordy is preceded in death by his parents, and brother in-law, William “Bill” Stone.
A celebration of Gordy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 1-5 at 1111 Ruby St. Belvidere. Please bring a chair and a dish to pass if you wish. All Gordy wanted was to have his family and friends together.
