To continue: I brought Ernie a jelly-bean pooping animal – I can still hear his laughter). He was delightful to be around – I loved listening to his stories and he was a good listener to ours as well. He was so respectful to my mom and had such a big heart – always helping others. My mom passed away on May 11th. Ernie gave me a big hug and said how sorry he was. He told me many times that if there was anything he could do to please let him know. He was so very sincere. I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember him.

My mom lived at Cherryvale for the past 4 years. For the last year she had been in poor health. I live in Florida, but made many trips to Rockford to see my mom. In fact, when I went there, I stayed with Mom in her room and ate meals with her, so I got to know many of the residents. (looking from Ernie’s dining seat, we were in the right front corner) I visited with him quite often – outside and at bingo. One time I was going to the store and he said to bring him something, but he couldn’t have candy (Pete also asked for me to bring him something). They were being silly and insinuating drinks, but didn’t really expect anything.

I’m so sorry for the loss your family is experiencing. It is at this time that family and friends and their words of encouragement and memories shared with our loved one, that helps us have comfort during this time. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm. 2 Thessalonians 2:16,17

My sincere condolences to Kelly, Paulette, Clifford, Roxanne and the entire family. It was so good of Ernie John, Paulette and Clifford, to attend Grandma’s funeral and luncheon last year, and meant a lot to us all. Keeping you all in our thoughts.
