Emery E. Meyers, 91, of Belvidere, IL, formerly of South Beloit, passed away Monday evening, October 30, 2017 at Medina Manor in Durand. He was born July 15, 1926 in Hunter, IL, the son of Ernest and Rena (Tarnish) Meyers. Emery served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he was stationed in Germany. He married the love of his life, Beverly Laird on June 12, 1948 in Rockton, IL. Emery was employed by Precision Fabricators for 22 years. Emery was a member of the VFW, Post 1461. He loved fishing, camping, and playing pull tabs.
Emery is loved and missed by his wife, Beverly, his daughter, Connie Bowen; grandchildren, Tammy (Robert) Cheek, and Christy (Brian) Forcier; great-grandchildren, Bryan Cheek, Andrew Forcier, and Anna Forcier; siblings, Richard (Margaret) Meyers, and Gloria Gothard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Gene Bowen, grandchildren, Michael Roberts II, Kailah Cheek, siblings, Darlene, Barbara, Jean, Bobby and Billy, and brother-in-law, Walter Gothard.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m., until the time of service. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Floral Lawn Cemetery in South Beloit, IL.
