Obituary

Elodia V. Perez, 74, of Belvidere, IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2020 in Rockford, IL. She was born on February 15, 1946 in Batesville, TX to Eliseo and Julia (Garza) Vela. Elodia married Hector G. Perez in Belvidere, IL. Elodia was a well-known seamstress and did that for a number of years. She found her spiritual home at St. James Catholic Church and was a faithful member for many years. She loved music, dancing, listening to her brothers’ band, singing, karaoke, sewing, and gardening with her son. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. They were the most important thing to her. 

Elodia will be dearly missed by her children, Imelda R. (Xavier) Gonzalez, Rebecca (Jesse) Garcia, Abelardo Ramirez, Jr., Armando Perez, and Armida (Lucio) Jimenez; her mother, Julia G. Vela her 6 brothers, Eliseo Vela, Abel Vela, Hector Vela, Trinedad Vela, Alvaro Vela, and Rick Vela; her 5 sisters, Diane Derry, San Juana Gomez, Maria Vela, Emma Herrera, and Debbie Vela; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Eliseo Vela and husband, Hector. 

Visitation will be private. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere. Due to state guidelines, 200 hundred guests at a time can attend Mass. Burial at a later date at Belvidere Cemetery. All memorial contributions in Elodia’s memory may be gifted to the family to establish a memorial at a later date. To leave the family a memory, please visit www.AndersonFCS.com

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere. Due to state guidelines, 200 hundred guests at a time can attend Mass.

Burial at a later date at Belvidere Cemetery.
