Belvidere, IL

Douglas A Boever, 68, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully in his home on March 8,2016 after he lost his battle with cancer. He was born May 2, 1948 in Estherville, IA to Manfred and Florence (Schwartz) Boever. He moved to Belvidere and started working at Chrysler. In 1966 he was drafted into the Army until 1968. He returned to Chrysler and worked a total of 31 years. Doug enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and socializing with his friends of whom he had many. After retirement he started going to Chapala, MX, for most of the winter, and there he made many more friends. Doug was a member of the American Legion post 77 and VFW post 1461

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Tom) Reid of Santa Maria, CA; grandson Tommy Reid of Santa Maria, CA; Brother Walter Boever of Armstrong, IA; niece, Jennifer (Tim) O’Connor; nephew, Jeff Boever; special friend Marianne Swanson whom he hopped around the country with for 20 years.

A special thanks to Chris and Phil Crane for being good neighbors and friends and always being there for him. Also a thank you to the OSF Hospice nurses, he could not have gotten better care.
Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19,2016  at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Military honors will take place at 4:45 p.m. in lieu of flowers memorials can be given to OSF Hospice or the Belvidere VFW (VAC) www.vacbc.org.
