David Lee “Crazy Dave” Kerchner, 67, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully surrounded by family October 8, 2020 in Belvidere, IL. He was born June 23, 1953 in Rochelle, IL to William Lee and Joan Lee (Klinefelter) Kerchner. He married his sweetheart, Linda Mayberry August 19, 1973 in Garden Prairie, IL. David graduated high school in Belvidere and worked for 30 years at CamCar as a Roll Thread Operator. He was also employed by Waste Management at DeKalb County Landfill.

David had a larger than life presence and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed very much driving around town and visiting folks along the way. You would often see him on his scooter, spreading his lively energy to everyone he met. He loved to supervise the local farmers, collecting toy tractors and attending garage sales.  There were two things David was fond of, food and family! He will be dearly missed.

David is loved by his wife, Linda; sons, Heath (Mary) and Shane (Kelly); grandchildren, Ivory, Rayne, Emma and Corbyn.

He is survived by his parents; two sisters; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by one brother.

Dear Linda, Heath, Shane and family. I was saddened and shocked to see that David had passed away in the notice in the BC Shopper yesterday. My thoughts immediately went to meeting up with you on one or more days each year at the Boone County Fair. We always got into lengthy catch-up conversations, and of course laughed at a few of David’s current jokes. Missed all of the interactions with friends out there this summer. Denise and I will not be able to attend the visitation tonight, as Denise just got over a case of the virus, and I now have it. So far both our illnesses have been relatively mild.. On top of that we have had Denise’s 99 yer old mom living with us since April. Somehow she has remained symptom free. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and all your family.

Dave provided many great memories and his sense of humor was second to none. I will forever remember his quirky faces and love of trucks, tractors, and the Boone County Fair. Rest in peace Dave. My condolences to Linda, Heath, Shane and family, you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Both Jan & I are truly sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Our family have lots of good memories of Dave over the years; especially in Scouting. He always put a smile on your face. Our sympathy goes out to Linda & her family.

I was saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. All you can say about him, is “What A Guy” What a friend…..always had something to talk about, a joke to tell or a duck quack to make you smile. He sure knew how to get the attention. My son loved seeing him, in his younger years, he caught his attention with the duck quack and the quarter behind the ear. He/we will always remember that about him and how he loved his family and friends. My sympathies to you and your family! Heaven has gained a comedian.
