Obituary

Charles R. Carlson, 77, left this world to be with the Lord on April 22, 2019. Charles was born in Belvidere, IL March 14, 1942 the son of Joseph Ivar and Kathleen Burdette (Mitts) Carlson.  Charles is survived by his wife Shirley L. Carlson; his daughters Terri Roley of Littleton, CO, Andrea (Arthur William III) Miller of Anchorage, AK, son Kraig (Melinda) Carlson of Crystal Lake, IL; sister Joann DiMoli; half-sister Linda (Lonnie) Hoffman; grand-children: Jeremy and Brent Clark, Robert and Arthur William Miller, Connor and Kyra Carlson.  Charles is preceeded in death by father, mother, son Kurt Carlson, sister Jean (Clifton) Nilsen, and brother Joseph (Rebecca) Carlson.

Charles was employed as a Mechanical Engineer with Greenlee Bros, Rockford, IL starting in 1958.  In 1960 he began employment with Rockford Automation as the Chief Engineer until the company closed in 1989.  Having always maintained Carlson Design Service, Charles started Createch, Inc. in 1989 where he worked with both of sons, selling the business in 2012 and retiring.

Charles enjoyed mentoring young engineers, wood carving, reading, nature, and spending time with his family.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice Care for the loving care and respect that they showed Charles during the last months of his life.

Memorial Service will take place 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services in Belvidere, IL with Rev. Keith Manley officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. till 9:45 prior to service. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery next to his father and mother and grandfather and grandmother immediately following service. I was very sorry to learn about Charlie’s death. If I had known how seriously ill he was, I would have been able to personally offer my sympathies. My condolences to his family. As a daughter of Joe Lewis, I know how much my father would mourn his loss. May they see each other in Heaven.
