Carol Jeanne Wych

Obituary

Carol left us on September 9, 2022. She will be remembered as a person full of generosity, kindness, love of family, and for making everyone feel welcome. Carol was the daughter of loving parents, Bob and Jeanne Kenney. She had three brothers, Jerry, Jim and Pat. In 1978, she married Jeff Wych and had two children, Joe (Marie) and Becky (Ben). She was Nana to Jack, Rory, Quinn and a fourth grandchild that is expected in January. She was so proud of her children and loved being a grandmother. Carol was a warm person that loved people. She worked as a beautician in Belvidere. She was a caregiver to her mother for years. She valued family and friends. Carol was the person that acknowledged all our life milestones and hosted many gatherings of family and friends. There was always room for one more at her dining room table which was filled with food and laughter. Carol enjoyed cooking, was artistic and crafty, and was exceptionally generous with her time, talents, and love. Carol was a guiding light for all who knew her. May that light continue to shine and inspire!

Yes, heaven surely has gained an angel. Anyone whose life has been touched by Carol knows that she has always been the first to organize a gathering, first to volunteer a dish to pass, first to offer anything that could help a friend or loved one, first at margarita reunions at La Hacienda Los Lopez, first to the pinochle table for an evening of laughs and first in her Jimmy Buffett gear with fins to the left. She loved community and community loved her. Carol, you exemplified a life well lived, and even in conversations near the end you spoke with such humility and grace, with such a calm and courageous strength it took my breath away. We will miss you down here. But we know where you are and we know who you are with….until we meet again…..thanks for leading us all in love.

Dear Jeff and the entire Wych family, my heart is broken for you all. Carol was a wonderful woman who cared deeply for her family and all who surrounded her. She will be sorely missed. I enjoyed our chats during our Belvidere Community Center winter walks, and she kindly invited me to join the Wych Ladies Starlight Theater outing. That was tremendously enjoyable. I’ll always think of her fondly.
May your memories of your wonderful Carol bring you joy.
Cheryl Bush.

Carol was a very sweet person, I’ve known her since high school and had the privilege of working with her many years later at Heritage Woods when she was a hairdresser there. She was over the top friendly and consoling with all the residents, making crafty items to give them and of course dressing the theme of the festive time of year. The residents loved her to pieces. My heart breaks for her family, gone too soon cancer stinks.🌹
