Beverly Jean Redfern

Obituary

Belvidere, IL

Beverly Jean Redfern, 76, died peacefully October 2, 2018 at her home in Belvidere, IL. She was born to Ira and Helen Vowles at Highland Hospital on February 23, 1942. Beverly married the love of her life, James Redfern, August 8, 1964 at First United Methodist Church here in Belvidere.

Beverly was a graduate of Kirkland High School and later went on to work several jobs, but ended up retiring from Sundstrand in Rockford, IL. Beverly was a dog enthusiast. She loved dogs, especially her granddogs Rocky and Ziggy. She also enjoyed decorating and gardening. She even won yard-of-the-month twice! Beverly didn’t mind going out to have some fun every now and then, she enjoyed playing the slots at casinos and going on occasional casino boats as well. She was known for her sense of humor and antics. Spending time with her friends and family, however, was most important to Beverly.

Beverly is survived by her husband, James; children, Matt (Heidi) Redfern and Shelli Yanez; sisters, Dianne Block and Beth Jodun; grandchildren, Hallie, Willie, Arianna, Tanner, Josh, Makayla, Chanse, and Felecia; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Mason, and Landon; and very special friends Mitzi and Glenna. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Angela; brother, John “Jack” Vowles, and brother-in-law Bill.

I am correcting this post, Bev was a very close friend of my sister Bev, back in day, after they graduated high school, they had an apartment together in Rockford an Dianne an I thought that was just the coolest thing ever ! Thinking of Bev Redfern make so many of us smile with fond memories, an makes me think of the song, ain’t it funny how time slips away

Bev was the sister of my sister, also named Bev, who has passed, but they were the two craziest fun people ever, but also with wonderful hearts, second to none. I know this is hard for her family who dearly loved her, an that is very easy to understand why. Thinking of all of you. Jeanie

My condolences to Jim, Shelly, Matt and family. I was saddened to hear of Bev’s passing. I worked with Bev in the coating department at plant 10 in 1988. She made it a joy to go to work every day, She could sure keep one laughing. I’m sure glad we reconnected on Face Book again. You all have such good memories but that doesn’t take away from missing her. May God give you comfort and strength. I live in Wisconsin now so can’t be at her memorial in person but will send prayers. R.I.P. Bev.

I am so sorry. Bev was a special person. She always helped me with the family picnics. Thank God, I got the chance to see her not to long ago at the restaurant. I will miss her. God bless the family.
