Beverly Jean Redfern, 76, died peacefully October 2, 2018 at her home in Belvidere, IL. She was born to Ira and Helen Vowles at Highland Hospital on February 23, 1942. Beverly married the love of her life, James Redfern, August 8, 1964 at First United Methodist Church here in Belvidere.
Beverly was a graduate of Kirkland High School and later went on to work several jobs, but ended up retiring from Sundstrand in Rockford, IL. Beverly was a dog enthusiast. She loved dogs, especially her granddogs Rocky and Ziggy. She also enjoyed decorating and gardening. She even won yard-of-the-month twice! Beverly didn’t mind going out to have some fun every now and then, she enjoyed playing the slots at casinos and going on occasional casino boats as well. She was known for her sense of humor and antics. Spending time with her friends and family, however, was most important to Beverly.
Beverly is survived by her husband, James; children, Matt (Heidi) Redfern and Shelli Yanez; sisters, Dianne Block and Beth Jodun; grandchildren, Hallie, Willie, Arianna, Tanner, Josh, Makayla, Chanse, and Felecia; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Mason, and Landon; and very special friends Mitzi and Glenna. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Angela; brother, John “Jack” Vowles, and brother-in-law Bill.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. Clergy, Lance Mennen will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials in Beverly’s name may be made to animal welfare organizations.
