Obituary
Alane Ann (Blachford) Pena, 67 Of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away, Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Rockford, IL. Alane was born June 20, 1954, in Belvidere, IL, daughter of William J. Blachford and Velma A. Eisenhauer. Alane was a graduate of North Boone High School in Poplar Grove, IL. She was married to her dance partner, Marciano “Rocky” Pena on April 18, 2004, at the Boone County Community Grange Hall, in Belvidere. She was a former member of LeRoy Community Grange, holding office as lecturer; played keyboard at Pomona, and a member of Prairie Grange, holding office of Secretary. She was also an Illinois and National Grange member and attended several national state Grange conventions. There she received a traveling plaque for being the Illinois State Subordinate Lecturer of the year on September 13, 1996. She performed the “Rose Drill” at both the state and National Grange conventions.
Alane was also a former member of the Boone County Fair Board for several years. In her youth, Alane had worked on the family Dairy farm, where she developed her deep love of animals, feeding calves, dogs and cats. Later she would work for two neighboring famers, before working at Farm and Fleet in Belvidere where she was head of the Agricultural Department for many years. Alane worked for a short time at Lowes in Loves Park, IL before her retirement. Alane was a long-time member of the Blaine Cemetery Board, serving as secretary and treasurer until her passing. Her lifelong passions included her husband, large garden, dancing, family history research and love of animals. Alane also has written many short stories and historical fiction stories, having several that were published.
Survivors include husband, Marciano “Rocky” Pena, Loves Park, IL; brother, Alan W. Blachford, Capron,
IL; Aunt, Margaret Kalianen, Trout Creek, MI; step-children, Ron Pena, Jerry Pena, Bev Pena and Marlene Amezquita, all of Machesney Park, IL; and many cousins, including Kathleen Larson, Beloit, WI; and Donald Rohr, Beloit, WI.
Alane was preceded in death by her parents; 6 aunts; 4 uncles; stepson, Jeffery Pena; and several cousins.
A visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Pastor Tom Hay will officiate. Burial at Blaine Cemetery.
